Is It Summer Yet?

This time last year, I had a 15-month-old (in the process of being weaned) and an almost 4-year-old in his last month of preschool. I’d grown accustomed to our school schedule and alone time with Chase, even if only for a few hours twice a week.

The ending of the school year sat heavy with me; it was just another change that I grew more and more fearful of. Three whole months with hot, humid days and 2 very mobile boys in a city I knew little about (and now that I do know more about it, I know that there’s still nothing to do). I felt that I’d never had a summer quite like the one that lie ahead - no only child, not the prior year’s immobile baby and a toddler, but rather, energetic boys with a need and a yearning for activities.
