What's In My Make-Up Bag

I love reading other’s “what’s in my bag/purse/car/pantry” posts, so I thought I’d dive right in and do one myself.

Since my purse is something I barely use anymore (weird, eh?), I’ve opted to let you guys rummage through my “make-up bag” (it’s really more of a catch-all). This is a bag I keep in my bathroom, and basically houses everything I use to get ready that’s not a) huge or b) kept someplace else. It’s more of a catch-all than true make-up bag because it kinda doubles as a travel bag, so I keep some items in this that I don’t normally need but occasionally use in case I might need them while out of town. This way, I can just grab this when I’m packing and expect that certain things will be there in case of emergency.

The bag itself is nothing fancy, just a freebie from Clinique during their bonus gift promos. In all actuality, I think the bag is ugly, but it’s larger than my last one, so it’s staying for now.

I separated stuff out into groups so I could go through them more efficiently. Normally, I’m digging through this thing to find something I don’t use regularly and the commonly used items remain on the top.

One thing I use any time I need to “put on my face” is eye makeup. I don’t even know why, but I’m not really a makeup wearer in the truest sense. But, if I need to look remotely presentable, I aim for eyes and some lip gloss.

Here we have eyeshadows in:

e.l.f Eye Shadow Duo - (no longer carried) It’s #90514 (dark brown/mocha)

e.l.f. Eye Shadow Duo - Berry Mix

e.l.f. Eye Shadow Duo - (no longer carried) biege/biege shimmer

e.l.f. Duo Eye Shadow Cream - Butter Pecan

Ulta Eye Shadow - Sage

Ulta Eye Shadow - Twilight

Ulta Eye Shadow - Naked

Ulta Eye Shadow - Shamrock

Then my brushes:

e.l.f. - Eye Shadow Brush

Sephora Professional - Flat Eyeliner

Two liners:

Ulta Automatic Eye Liner - Black

Ulta Automatic Eye Liner - Moss

(These are a recent purchase and I will likely keep using Ulta Eye Liners, but my tried and true favorite is Maybelline Unstoppable in Onyx and TRUST ME, I’ve tried a TON of eyeliners)

Two mascaras:

Maybelline Great Lash (BIG) - Very Black (pictured below)

Clinique High Impact Mascara - 01 Black (pictured below)

I prime my eyelids with a cream shadow (usually the white with a hint of shimmer in the e.l.f. travel case pictured below). This is a very inexpensive way to make cheap eye shadow last longer. If I need my makeup to last longer or if I need a more polished look (for an event), I use Clinique’s eye shadow primer and Clinique eye shadow duo.

I have always loved Clinique’s mascaras, but recently went back to an old staple - Great Lash (for cost reasons). Great brush and formula (the Clinique is a “softer” mascara and the brush is a bit more exact).

Next are “maintenance” items - some I don’t use frequently but are there in case I need them.

Clinique Moisture Surge (My absolute favorite facial moisturizer)

My Claro SX IPL - the review is here and I use this ANY time I see a problem bump trying to make an entrance. It’s pricey for those who suffer from acne, but worth it!

Nail File

Seacret Cuticle Oil

Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment

Clinique Skin Tone Corrector

Bausch&Lomb ReNu Multiplus Drops (a MUST for a contact wearer.. which I will no longer be in a few weeks ;) )

Floss! DO IT.

Contact case

Tweezers

Eye lash curlers (stop laughing)

Hair pins (in brown)

Elastics for side braids - my current STAPLE for humid days or bad hair moments

Qtips

This is the travel case from E.L.F. I mentioned above. I got it as a bonus gift from the WHOLE $10 I spent getting the eye shadows, which is fine considering I only use the cream shadow and a few glosses on occasion.

Like I said, I rarely wear a “full face”, my skin is way too tempermental to deal with daily foundation/power/blush/bronzer. When I do wear it, this is what I use:

Clinique Perfectly Real Makeup - Shade 08 (N) (very lightweight and easy to apply)

or

Clinique Superbalanced Powder Makeup SPF 15 - 02 Natural

Clinique Advanced Concealer - 01 Matte Light

Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick - 03 Rosy Blush

See a pattern? I only trust Clinique with my pores. I’m POSITIVE there are other lines out there, but Clinique has never done me wrong, so I stick with it.

I also use the EcoTools Bamboo Blush Brush (pictured above) (review here) for my Clinique powder blush (not pictured as it crushed and makes a mess).

Lips!!

I’m IN LOVE with plumpers and I’ve got to remember to do a post on MAKING YOUR OWN! (SERIOUSLY)

But recently, I was in ULTA trying on everything they sell, when I put this Smashbox plumper on and wanted to makeout with it. So I did. Um.

Wait.

Ok, so maybe. Anyways, it’s only right to purchase something once you’ve “marked” it, so I did just that:

 Smashbox O-Plump

E.L.F. Plumping Lip Glaze - Ruby Kiss (I don’t use the color, just the clear because I’ve “tainted” the clear with my own plumping concoction)

Clinique Long Last Lipstick - Sugared Maple (what I call my “grown up lipstick)

E.L.F. Feather Proof-Moisturizing Lip Liner - Natural Blush

And lol:

Dr. Pepper Cherry Lip Balm (and I have the Mountain Dew too) - these are absolute garbage BUT they smell nice and taste yummy!

Alright, I’m done embarrassing myself now. Hope you enjoyed!
