Follow-up LASIK Vlog
Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 6:13PM I tried this same vlog three times, each time it ended up about 5 minutes and 40 seconds. So finally, I got it under 5:30 and then said “SCREW THIS” and kept talking to 6:10. You’re welcome.
I don’t call this “Hush, Amanda” for nothin’.

The halos/starbursts never bothered me. Fingerprints/dirty glasses were worse. I don't get them at all anymore and still see great.
Are you paranoid about rubbing your eyes?
I am a little paranoid about rubbing my eyes - although, I may be MORE paranoid about one of my kids hitting me there! It's happened twice now, and totally freaked me out both times. It's different from getting hit in the eye prior to lasik, both in that it can cause more damage and because DUDE IT HURTS TO MUCH WORSE. Both times were indirect and not that... hard... so I was ok. It hurt for HOURS though the last time.
And the fingerprints are way worse than these stupid halos. Excellent point.
I think the worst side effect has been that my eyes seem much more sensitive to light. I could go without sunglasses before without issue, but even now, 4 years later or so, I really need to dim this Florida sunshine.
I have gotten over the rubbing paranoia. Showering and forgetting was most difficult - you feel you have to get the water/soap out of your eyes but YOU CAN'T RUB THEM. And itchy eyes, I started pushing against the corner of the eyes like where the tear ducts are, and that almost kinda helped. But now I'll rub my eyes when tired - probably less than I did before though.
I never worried about others hitting me in the eye. I've always had sensitive eyes. I hate anything near them. That's why I never got contacts. I can remember being in a play in high school and someone tried to put makeup on me and they got close to my eyes and I freaked out at them a little. So I've always been protective about things going near them anyway.
It sounds like you're doing well, though! That's great! Good luck with the rest of the recovery!
